Its about what your colonists do and how they act, what situations they cause etc.įor example when a dude named Bob smoking and drinking all the time suddenly laying naked in the 60 degree desert taking a sunbath to then get a bite into his lower chest from a raging rat, dying to the infection a day later. It doesnt matter where the whole colony heads to and whether you end up going this direction with it or that. The general direction your playthrough heads to is irrelevant for that fact, it just sets the framework but gets enriched by the smaller stories. This can be entirely driven by characters or by events aswell. What Rimworld does are small stories, situations that cause a narrative to go on. Only when you have such a limited view on story as of it being only the grand scheme happening. Rimworld is one of my favorite games but the overhype of the "Story Generator" tagline seems a little weird to me. Unless you're doing something like ice sheet. It almost always ends up as either "and then the raiders came and we killed them but our pawn had a mental break and caused problems until he stopped and then we continued" or "and then we harvested organs from prisoners and made hats". I absolutely love Rimworld, however most colonies end up the same unless you have crazy and wild ideas or have a lot of mods installed.
